For those of you new to the Charlie Parkers, the band's songwriting has been compared by NME to that of 'the Beatles, Kinks, Bowie, Smiths and the Libertines' and along the way the band have supported the Pigeon Detectives and We Are Scientists as well as being runners up in a Channel 4 unsigned showcase competition and have also appeared on BBC Three.

The line up is composed of Tony Barker (vocals, guitar, Rhodes piano), James 'Jam' Wakefield (guitar, vocals), Graham 'Beaz' Cotton (bass, vocals) and Dan Buckland (drums) and the the Parkers have a reputation as an impressive live act bursting with energy, unfathomably strong musicianship and most importantly a raft of killer tunes.

The band have over the summer cemented a strong following at their London shows and are now stepping it up a gear. The CPs will be playing higher profile shows in the capital - including King's Cross Water Rats and Camden Barfly, support slots with the likes of John Power from Cast and the La's, The Real People and Noel Gallagher's former band Tailgunner - and the next couple of months will also see the release of their debut 'If You Knew' EP. It doesn't end there either; the Parkers have a video in the pipeline and new tunes like the hotly-anticipated 'Crashin' (In My Head)' are set for their first live outings at any moment...

The band have been overwhelmed by the support they've been receiving recently, you can get involved and see the band for yourself at one of their upcoming shows (listings in the gigography section), join the Parkers on myspace or facebook, or email info@thecharlieparkers.co.uk to join the mailing list for updates on the Parkers' progress!
